Magic mushrooms

Now you may find this hard to believe but sometimes I can obsessed by the little things! It may be one rose or a butterfly or a cookie mushroom.
Last week I took part in a big project, with seven dessert tables, five big cakes to make, and various other sundries. However I became obsessed with making these mushroom cookies! I got very excited with the thought of them and spent a week working on them.

I was so happy with the finished product that I decided to give them their own photo shoot.
(The magic is a little bit of popping candy in the middle.)

Stay tuned because I am now obsessed with a Christmas version.

  1. Wow. AMazing. That is all #lostforwords

  2. Natasha, you are freekishly talented! These look so real I have to stare at the photo to see a clue that they are cookies. After 10 minutes of staring at my screen I have to say I give up, I can't tell they are cookies :-) Absolutely LOVE the packaging, you MUST pretty -please -with -lots -of -cherries -on -top show us how to make them :-)

  3. Natasha, these are amazing. I know you're probably busy beyond belief, but if you ever get a chance to post a tutorial (or the recipe) for how you made these, I'd be ecstatic (and grateful!). Yours are the best meringue mushrooms I've ever seen.

  4. Delicious trompe l'oeil...!

I've never (ever!) done anything pastry-related, but if you ever got around to posting the tutorial, this will be the first thing I'd made!

  5. WOW! These seriously look like real mushrooms!!! Incredible. :)

  6. Astounding! I was looking at them thinking'so how did the mushrooms work with cakes' it took me ages to realise they are confectionery - very well made and so much fun - you are CLEVER!!!
