More wedding cakes

The vintage wedding fair is taking place this Sunday so my wedding cake machine has been on overload.
Here are the latest, for your viewing pleasure.
This one above (I call it 'grey cake' but I should probably think of a more romantic name) was a bit of a trial and although I like the finished result I started again.

This is mark two. I call it Florabunda and it is inspired by the sherbet pastels all over the runways this season.

Rosette cake

If you are anywhere near Milton Keynes you really should pop in and see the show it is going to be fabulous!

Holiday ideas

Are you wading through half term with your kidlets demanding to be entertained?
Luckily we have a birthday party coming up so I have channeled their craftiness into projects to help the celebrations. But if you are stuck here are some ideas.

Make some shoes and then spend days explaining why they "can't go out in the snow just wearing cardboard!"

Make a giant Tunnock's Teacake (the online recipe seems to have disappeared. Cover a bowl with cling film and then pour melted chocolate around it. Melt two bags of marshmallow and pour into the chocolate covered bowl. make a biscuit base , the same as a cheesecake base. then press on top of the marshmallows. Chill.). This is quite possibly the most sickly thing on the planet. Even the kidlet's turned up their noses!

Desperately dig out all those little bits of cookie dough from the freezer you been saving for such a day as this! Squidge them together to make chocvanginger flavour.

Face paints! Minutes of fun, hours of tidying up!

Water balloons. Hours of preparation, minutes of fun, hours of mopping up!

Experiment with fizzy water and sultanas, fascinating!

ps if you do make the teacake and develop diabetes I am not accepting any liability!

Party time

We are busy preparing for a birthday party at the end of the week. This year's theme...a Pokemon cooking party. I have to say, I am not massively inspired by this one, but I didn't have any say in the matter! Stay tuned for Pokemon themed cakes and cookies!
This was the picture for the invitations.

Wedding cakes

I am attending a vintage wedding fair at Milton Keynes on the 26th February, so I am busy making cake dummies. I want to do a really nice photo shoot with them but I have no time at the moment, so I thought I would share them anyway. If you fancy coming along and saying hello you can find all the details here.

Something nasty..

I thought about not sharing these with you as they are a bit gruesome, but strangely I was also quite pleased with how they turned out! (I'll just post the pictures small so you don't get the full horror!)

Some more sweetness soon I promise!

Bird cage cake inspiration

Yes, I know, I'm a little late to the party but I am preparing a bird cage cake dummy for the vintage wedding fair I shall be attending in a few weeks. So I have been looking around for inspiration, and thought I would share it with you.
I love romantic flowers and cakes and these first two cake designers are the best!

This is from Sweet Tiers. The flowers are just perfect!

I love the addition of the brooch and pearls on this by Cotton and Crumbs.

I found this via Pinterest on The Vintage Lifestyle blog by The Uterly Sexy Cafe. It feels like something my Nana would have had in her house (in a good way!)

If you fancy having a go yourself Torie Jayne has made a fabulous tutorial for this gorgeous cake here.

I hope to have mine finished soon and will show you the fruits of all this lovely inspiration.
