Weddings, weddings and more weddings

Yes it's that time of year again, wedding bells are ringing, brides are blooming and cake makers are sweating through the night in hot kitchens, making sure their cakes do not melt!
This is one of the reasons that I have been very neglectful of my blog recently. The other reason is that I have started writing a book, I can't say any more yet but it will be published late next year. I will keep you posted!
These will be the last two cakes I have made before the holidays, I am spending the summer hunched over a laptop writing.

This cake was for a fabulous venue, a hall in Emmanuel college, Cambridge. There were to be fresh flowers on top of the cake, but I do not have a photo of that yet.

This next cake was for a wedding in a great barn, they had decked it out in bunting and vintage china tea sets, so wanted a cake that would match that theme.

I will try and get a recipe or two created for you over the holidays, but for now, keep painting.

Brides magazine feature

I was asked some time ago to create this cake based on blue and white china for a feature in this months' brides magazine. I do love painting blue and white cakes and I think they look really effective.

I was happy to discover that further on in the magazine they had also printed some of my cakes for a feature on painted cakes! xx

Painted wedding cakes

Time for a little catch up with a couple of wedding cakes that I have made in the last few weeks.

The first, was this lovely bright sunny cake, with orange roses, yellow gerberas, sweet pea and thistles.

They wanted a few little personal details added, some birds and wedding bells. The wedding was at Blenheim Palace, the first time I have delivered there, and it really was the most amazing venue.

The next cake is a more subtle colour-way, dusty pink and silver. The lovely bride was a friend's sister. They liked this cake, but wanted the cut-out flowers added on top.

I also made matching named cookies which double as wedding favours and name places.
